Everything you ever wanted to know about raising money from your community but thought it was too complicated to ask!

In Association with the Community Shares Programme

A one day in depth exploration of the possibility of raising capital investment from YOUR community. Combining expert speakers with small group work focussing on each participants personal situation, the day covers:

  • Introduction to community shares
  • Workshops to identify whether community shares are right for you
  • Choosing the right legal form
  • Developing a strong community share offer
  • Preparing a proposal
  • Pitching to an expert panel
  • Feedback & Q&A

Who is it for? Anyone involved in developing community-based enterprises which require capital finance and would like to consider the option of raising finance from their community.

Workshop participants are encouraged to bring details of an initiative they are currently involved with which can be used as a live case study during the workshop.

Target Audience: Development Trusts, community activists, community groups, volunteers, social entrepreneurs, charities, social enterprise advisors (a fee is payable), regeneration specialists (a fee is payable)

The event is free to rural social and community organisations in the South West and lunch is included. Bursaries are also available to cover the cost of travel. Places are available for those whose job it is to support rural social and community organisations at £75 per place.

Please note that this course is only 12 minutes in a car from Tiverton Parkway Station and the M5 but is in a very rural location. Detailed instructions will be sent prior to the course. If you are travelling by public transport and will require a taxi from the statio please contact J.Wainwright@dta.org.uk to arrange to meet other participants.

Please also note that the venue is on a farm and  may be muddy so is unsuitable for high heels or very smart shoes! Please bring sensible walking shoes and waterproof clothing if you would like to explore the woods and grounds during breaks and lunchtime.
